I think it's amazing how many children who know the truth still keep the secret going for younger siblings

To be honest it brings back the magic for them. There is quite a big age gap from my older two to my youngest who is now 5 and they wanted new traditions so they could see his little face and excitement. Hence elf on the shelve and a Christmas Eve box.
It’s the same when we go to Florida, they get really excited to take him on the kiddie rides.

My kids used to ask how does he fit down the chimney, why has Santa got the same handwriting as dad. Why does Santa have the same wrapping paper as you? Hide paper, change writing, make up stories about fitting down chimney, glad by age 10 it was all over. Mine are all grown up now x

It Father Christmas for us and when we see him it’s his helpers who report back to the big man. One present comes from FC and the rest from us. We don’t have a chimney so he has a ‘key’ we put out for him. Always leave reindeer food and water out in the garden and he gets a little cake as I don’t like mince pie lol. My LO is 5 so really getting it this year. I have made a fab video on PNP app which FC will speak to her.

That’s why I ask these questions! I was such a curious child and I don’t understand how it’s not obvious!

One year we listened out for jingle bells in the sky and I heard them, and to this day I swear I saw Father Christmas come into the bedroom but the next morning I went downstairs and he’d written a note saying that Rudolph couldn’t finish his carrot and the handwriting was the same as my mums and my dreams were ruined I clearly still can’t get over it

You forget kids have a interest in keeping it real!

Mine are 10 and 13 I am sure “they know” but haven’t had an open conversion about it. We all like it this way and are happy to play the Santa game to keep magic alive

My neighbours daughter told my son when he was just 5 years old (she was the same age). Her mother did not like lying to her about Santa etc. so told her daughter everything. This same girl told my son he was a bad person as he did not go to church

Edit. I tried to gloss over it but he knew and it was never the same again. His younger brother believed for a little bit longer.

I didn’t forget! I honestly have no idea. I’m the baby of the family and never had to keep it real until I was 20.

Genuinely asking these questions because I have no idea

Thats horrible! your poor son, but also poor girl for being fed these things and not being able to enjoy being an innocent believer!

My son now 27 said he saw Santa on the top of the stairs and he tapped the side of his nose with his finger. He still says it was real and he saw it x
