We stayed for a week in Cape Coral in 2017 and are doing the same again this summer.

We visited beaches, ate out loads, did loads of shopping and even went to a baseball game. A link to my trip report is HERE

If you want somewhere to eat in Cape Coral, try Lobster Lady. We had an amazing meal there

Thanks all. We've got 5 nights booked at Cape Coral early August before we head down to the Keys. Looking forward to relaxing after the madness of Orlando.

I have booked tickets to the Charlotte Stone Crabs baseball game - Fort Myers Miracles aren't playing home games when we are there. We're going on a Sunday and tickets and parking were FREE.

Cape Coral has its own (small) beach with a kids play area and a good tiki hut restaurants bar with afternoon & night time entertainment. Shopping is also good as you have the usual stores (TJMaxx, Ross, Bed Bath and Beyond, Walmart, SuperTarget, etc). There is also a water park (Sunsplash), a couple of bowling alleys and a couple of movie theatres.
If you go on the Ft Myers you have the HUGE Malls (Miromar, Gulf Coat, Bell Tower,Coconut Point and Sanibel Outlets) to name a few.
Visit downtown Ft Myers (very similar to parts of Miami Beach) and see the beautiful architecture and have a cocktail in the Sky rooftop bar and see wonderful views across the Caloosahatchee river. On Ft Myers beach you can stroll along the beach and pier, hire every type of water sport activity as well as take various boat trips. Drive further on to Lovers Key and go kayaking, walking nature trails or visit on beautiful beaches.
If you go over to the gorgeous islands of Sanibel and Captiva you can hire bike, visit secluded beaches, eat is brilliant (and some quirky) restaurants (The Bubble Room, The Mucky Duck) and see some jaw dropping multi million dollar homes. Naples is also not far away with the zoo, pier, boat trips, tin city and a lovely stroll along /5th Ave shops, restaurants, bars and shops.
I’ve hardly scratched the surface of all you can do!
We owned a villa in Cape Coral for 16 years (we sold earlier this year) and have very happy memories of our holidays in SW Florida. I am sure you will have a great time.
We stayed in Capecoralfl’s villa in 2017 and had a wonderful 2 week holiday. It was so much more chilled out than an Orlando holiday, our whole family loved it. We did most of the things Caprcoralfl has mentioned and also visited the Edison Ford.

We would thoroughly recommend it
