AKL ... Can we get a kettle and possibly a microwave? Travelling with a 10 week old baby.

I am planning to breast feed but i want options in case it doesn't go to plan.
I want a kettle to make up feeds/warm bottles and a microwave to sterilize bottles but not the end of the world as i can cold water sterilize. Just wondered if AKL can provide one or if i can hire one? We dont have a car until 1/2 way through trip so cant pop to supermarket.
Thanks

I'd recommend taking a travel kettle with you because as far as I'm aware electric kettles aren't really a thing in the USA, the norm is a coffee maker for hot drinks or a stove top kettle... weird I know 🤷 I don't think you'd be able to get a microwave in your room but they have one for guest use in the mara.

The studios at AKL have a microwave and might suit you better with a baby. I don’t know how easy it would be to swap to a studio if you have already booked though.

I’d advise on taking a travel kettle, and have you thought about taking an electric steriliser with you? I had one with my youngest and was super easy to use. Think it’d be better than having to do the cold water sterilising. We travelled back about 4 weeks ago and there was a 10 week old on the plane next to us - best behaved person onboard

They’ve got a microwave in the Mara. When we had to do bottles we used the microwave in the eating area. I’m sure you can get a kettle, I’m in Kidani right now and their wall list says you can request a ‘tea kettle’ so I’m sure they be able to get you one.

If you buy a travel kettle, make sure you get one with dual voltage and change the voltage to 110. Otherwise it will take such a long time to boil.

I remember seeing something called nursery water on sale in Walmart (guessing it's low sodium) so that could be an option to consider.

I think I read on here that nursery water still had to be boiled. 🙂
