There's been a really high and early uptake of the flu vaccination this year so the stock of the under 65's vaccination is temporarily in short supply. The over 65's vaccine is a different jab and not affected at the moment so it'd be the ideal time to try to book an appointment for this age group.

Stock issues aside, I think it's really positive that people are pro-actively getting their flu vaccination early this year.

I heard this mentioned on the radio this morning. Due to the demand, vulnerable/at risk people are going to be prioritised with the 30m doses the UK has.

I was kicking myself for not sorting myself out sooner and then about an hour ago I had an SMS from my GP's surgery telling me I am eligible for one with them, which was a surprise. I'm guessing it's because I'm an asthmatic - I can't see how else I'd qualify.

My employer normally gives us a voucher to get flu jab each year.

Just heard this morning they aren't able to do that anymore as the pharmacies aren't issuing the vouchers because they currently don't have the stock.

You would have thought they would anticipated this.

Another way around this is for employees to pay and claim back through expenses? Is this something your employer could do (this is what mine now does)

Boots just cancelled mine and hubby's for tomorrow! We are under 65. I booked when booking first opened so don't beat yourself up if you didn't book! ☹

I only get it because I look after my elderly parents and worry about them!

I'll have to wait

I'm under 65 and mine was free, as I live with someone in the "sheltered" category. I did have to bring his sheltered letter to the Boots appointment last week to prove it.

I had mine done this afternoon at Boots. Think I did well to book early, as quite a few people had their appointments cancelled due to running low on stocks of the vaccine.

Good to see that there is a lot of demand for it this year though.
