When to book Xmas 21

We’re looking to go to Orlando in December (20 Dec to 1 Jan). Flights are now out on BA, but the return flight has jumped £200 pp since this morning. We’ve never traveled this time of year, so no idea on typical cost for flights and car. We normally travel in August and pay around £2800 direct flight and Group F car with BA for 2A/2C.

Can anyone shed any light on best time to book and ballpark figures (I know, how long is a piece of string ).

I've found if you fly back on new years eve rather than 1st January you can save a small fortune unless NYE is important for you to spend there.

I've paid between £400-£500 pp indirect at those date but flying back NYE

As others have said coming back a day earlier saves a ton, also check out Miami for coming back on the 31st.

Lufthansa are also out and are ok, but I would only be booking a package right now.

I’m looking to come home about the 1st to 6th and will wait a couple of weeks and see as they tend to settle after a high first day of release.

Well I booked last night.

Lhr to Mia 4th December back on the 31st dec😬 land on New Year’s Day.

I know it’s not the best night to be in the air but it’s cheap!

£1800 for 3 people, inc suburban or similar with avis.

Avis app has my booking priced at £1000 so at £700 for 3 people those flights are a good deal for us.

That’s a really good price. Unfortunately we have to travel in school holidays, and the prices seem to rise daily with BA - now over £4K for flights and car 😩. Hoping they’ll come down, or we won’t be going. I did try to persuade the kids to miss 2 days of school as the price reduced to less than £3k, but they don’t want to.

I’ve been watching the flights from BA for the last few week as we need to book the 23rd till the 6th of jan so a few weeks to wait yet ! and the prices seem to come down a good bit about 2 weeks after release well I’m hoping that trends happens with our dates.

I booked for Dec 21 this morning. It was the first date that the return flights became available so I phoned up and switched the deposits from another couple of bookings across. I was very happy with the price so got it booked. I checked again about 5 hours later and the prices had increased by over £230pp!

Our BA return flight is 2nd Jan and it was much cheaper at 9am this morning (release date) than it was when I checked again at 2pm. Might be worth checking when you get up on Sunday morning.

This was me yesterday - I dithered too much about booking, and the return price shot up over £200pp - I should have stuck with my moto - book when you see a price you like.
