I’m not a dog owner but to my mind the issue is they don’t know what’s going on because they are rare . Take them to watch a display so they can understand what it’s all about and I suspect they will be less concerned in the future

I don’t see the point in bangers so maybe ban them ?
Maybe put the age up to 21 to buy them so kids who haven’t matured yet and don’t recognise the dangers are less likely to have access to them

I do have concern for those of you who seem to live in Beirut

Of course you get the odd lunatic but maybe they lunatic will be involved in the displays that people seem to think are acceptable ? What’s the cut off point ? Is the pub landlord ok to have a display ? Is the local cricket club ?
Fireworks may be rare where you live but they certainly aren't where I live. I wish they were! I'm fed up of getting woken up at midnight/early hours of the morning for several months at a time.

Our neighbour who backs onto us has a small garden to, but that doesn't stop them setting them off, and we've had a couple hit the house in the past.

Still, can guarantee they'll have some more again in the coming weeks just got to keep our fingers crossed we have no issues as it cannot be safe at that short distance, in fact I know it's not safe.
We have exactly the same problem in the cul de sac where I live. The gardens are tiny, but it doesn't stop a couple of the neighbours setting off fireworks with no regard as to where they land.

I like fireworks - they're fun. We make sure the pets are indoors around the beginning of November and have our own fireworks in the garden. Burning your hand on a hot spent sparkler is part of life's rich journey.

Had a conversation with someone about this the other day. Their view was 'stop moaning and train your animals to like them because they're only animals.'

He stopped in his tracks though when I suggested that many men and women suffering from PTSD would also be living a nightmare right now.

So perhaps we need to think of people more (as well as animals). Awful time for anyone suffering from PTSD.

I am with the crowd who would like organised displays only. Much less work for the fire station, ambulances and Police I would guess if that happened.

Which is fine if you live in an area where they only go off for a few days as opposed to a few months!

Firework shows don't really interest us anymore, Disney has changed our expectations.

Well we’ve had fireworks going off around us tonight for the last half hour!

Luckily our cats are both in anyway, but it’s hard to try to keep pets safe and as far as possible not terrified by them when you have no control over when it happens.
