I live near London, worked there for several years and go there for days out. It takes a long time to walk through the stations to the tube platforms and to go from one platform to another. So I'd say that's about right.

Just out of interest.
We have tickets booked from our local station to gatwick

Getting off at euston then the tube and back on the final leg of the journey from victoria

Is the tube part of the journey covered by the cost of the tickets or is there an additional charge for the tube and if so what would that return cost be thanks

Yes the actual tube journey is fairly quick, but as others have said getting to and from the platforms can take time. Also you are travelling at a peak time, so the crowds will slow you down a bit as well.

you can also use Tesco clubcard points to buy your railcards.

I'm from Notts, when we flew from Gatwick we took the train, had a railcard, booked open return from Nottingham to St Pancras, it cost just over £80 return total for 2 adults. That meant we than had the flexibity to book our own journey across London and out to Gatwick (we ended up taking the Thameslink train from St Pancras, just bought the train tickets at the machines in the train station before we got on board).

It was cheaper than driving and parking at Gatwick, and it was an easy journey. I'd do it again.

I travel Euston to Victoria daily.
Can be extremely busy depending on time of day and you may have to let a couple of tube trains go through, but actual time on tube is 10 minutes between stations.
Roughly 10 mins to get to Victoria SB platform at Euston (there is a lift to the LU station on the right hand side of the concourse, but it’s 2 escalators down to platform from ticket barrier) Go to front of tube as this is nearest to exit at Victoria. When you get to Victoria it’s one escalator up to ticket hall and there’s a lift up to mainline station from there. Gatwick express is right hand side of concourse as you go in. Good luck can take anything up to 50 minutes but my usual journey is around 20 minutes.
