Paying deposit for BA holiday

Looking at a few options with BA. We are thinking of flying Premium economy on the way to Las Vegas business on way back plus the hotel as there are good deals. The holiday booked this way using flights then adding hotel is £2.5k cheaper than booking it as a package as I can only book business there and back which I don’t want. Is there any way round this. I can also pay by deposit with the package but doing it by the first method (which I thought turned it into a package) they want the money up front. Is there a way round this. I just don’t want to be parting with my cash sooner than I need to.

I’ve seen this happen a few times on here when wanting to fly different classes. I would give BA a call to book it, they should allow you to pay a deposit only as like you say by adding a hotel it turns into a package. I’ve always found their customer service to be very good

Problem solved. I phoned customer services as per smithlane advice and managed to book. They put it through as a premium economy package and upgraded to business on way back. I also saved another £300 on the cost of online including room upgrade and deposit of £200. Very nice customer service lady too as she kept having to phone me back as system was crashing.

That’s great news! I’ve always had really friendly agents when I’ve had to call them up

We booked BA fly drive last week. I phoned up and they went through with the booking details and then asked how did I want to pay almost £6k (8 in group) - credit card or debit card. I said it should be a package - flights and car. So they went off and priced it up as package and it came out cheaper and I paid £325 deposit.

Only because I had to get a quote for business both ways when I really wanted pe then business on way home. It was even cheaper when I phoned for a price. The system didn’t recognise it originally as a package but as two separate components.
