Car hire insurance

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere.
If I hire a car through one of the main companies (Hertz/Alamo etc) am I covered for all the insurance I need? Or do I need to get any extra cover?
It seems that CDW is covered by most of the companies, just wondered if anything else was required?
Thanks
Stuart

I use Alamo and have never taken any additional cover.

If you book via a UK site you should get all necessary insurances. If you book via the USA sites your quote will be much lower but will not have the appropriate insurances.

CDW with no excess is one of the important ones. The other, which is more important in my opinion, is SLI for $1m (aka Extended protection).

Most reputable UK brokers and Alamo Brits should include them both but beware some UK package holidays and some fly-drives which, unless you upgrade, may not. BA fly drives do include them.
