This is the main reason I can’t get another dog. I’m not sure I could put myself through it again 🙁

We lasted 3 months before we got another dog, after swearing we weren’t getting another, house was too quiet without him. It didn’t help that we had a holiday in Cornwall after we lost him and spent the whole fortnight admiring dogs on the beach.
We have employed a dog walker this time around so new pup is never left for longer than 3 1/2 hours at a time, I worrried how it was all going to work our but to be honest having the new pup is great.

He is gorgeous, those muddy pawprints...

Yes, he is gorgeous.. and he knows it! He is a miniature golden doodle.

Oscar was a golden retriever, and as much as we love the breed, and wanted another, we knew that if we did, we would always be comparing any new pup against him. That wouldn't be fair on the puppy. So we researched and found this breed, which is perfect for us, similar but not the same, and the advantage of hair not casting.

I do remember your emptiness, maybe try guide dogs and see how you get on? BTW guide dogs told us not to allow Hugo upstairs on on the furniture so as not to get him in bad habits if his new owner wouldn't allow it.
My friend as had 2 now but she just waits for the next one she does follow the rules she was heart broken when her lab died 2 years after the dear DH but felt she could not gave the time to have one full time. We also have a mad Molly she is a 2 year old yellow lab and totally nuts.
