Sainsburys ban selling fireworks
Fair play to sainsburys for refusing to sell fireworks due to the welfare of people and animals.
I wish buying fireworks were banned full stop, and only firework displays could buy them. The poor animals are so scared, and inconsiderate people letting them off all hours of the night (including early hours of the morning). I don't get so called fireworks that are basically bombs with extremely loud explosions (what's the point other than upsetting animals and people). Edited at 06:02 PM. |

I hate fireworks, displays are ok but basically letting off fireworks from now till New Year’s Eve is not acceptable!
My westie will be barking till January, I might buy her a snood from Amazon as we’ve tried everything else!

I hate them but not as much as both my dogs hate them, it's a good job my neighbours are hard of hearing cos we have to crank volume right up on TV, close all the curtains and blinds and just comfort them as best we can, it's fact it isn't just the one night gets in my nerves though we are already hearing the odd few going off round here

Fair play to Sainsbury’s... my GSD in pic below hated fireworks, and used to try to get under my bed! I used to have to sit up all night(s) with music going quite loudly. 🙁
My springers are ok...though they are not trained gun dogs, It must be in the breed somewhere. 😊

Bonfire night lasts about a week where I live and they’re all garbage! A young lad died last week and a crowd of people were letting them off at the pub on the next estate @ 7pm- honestly thought it was an explosion and my poor puppy panicked.
I love fireworks but when they’re half decent and expected 😄 |

Couldn't agree with you more. I've been saying for years that they should only be available to buy for large organised events with some kind of permit.

I totally agree.
My dog isn’t phased by them, but I think they’re dangerous and they upset a lot of animals.

Hats off to Sainsburys. I only with other supermarkets would follow suit. My dogs aren't bothered by them, I am very lucky, but my friends dogs are terribly scared and its horrible to see. I really wish there would be a law passed in that only trained and certified people could access them and use them. People should just go to displays if they want to see them. It would save so many horrible accidents and injuries every year.

That’s excellent news! Now for the others to follow suit. Fireworks have changed since my childhood when it was a few sparklers and a Catherine wheel. In my opinion, they are no longer suitable for the garden. My current dig doesn’t have a problem with them but I’ve often said it sounds like a war zone outside. You can understand why ex servicemen have problems.
