I start with the easy items like pillowcases (yes I iron bedding) and shirts/polo shirts are always last. Sometimes I just dump them back in the basket for another day as I hate ironing them so much!

What order do you do your ironing?

Jane 😊
Same here, and then sort shirts by colour or pattern eg check/stripes, I'm weird as think there is not so much if it is in lots of little piles

I just start at the top of the ironing basket and work my way down until it’s all done. It provides variety that way, rather than all of one item at a time. Unless there’s anything that needs a really cool iron and I’ll pick that out to do either first or last.

I refuse to iron DH’s work trousers as he likes a sharp crease down the middle of each leg and I end up making tram lines 😳. Also, one particular shirt of his that is a weird silky material with very narrow stripes that makes me feel dizzy just looking at it, so he does those himself.

Bit of light relief this, getting a bit of insight into each other’s domestic habits 😁

I just iron what we are going to wear that day ! DD is dreadful at putting her clothes away and then pulling it all out when she’s looking for something so it’s usually all creased again anyway 😄 If we are going away I do iron everything before packing !

Edit : Only get away with that as I don’t ‘work’, other 2 kids are not at home and DH works offshore so only home every 2nd month 😄

I don’t. I hang it up out of the dryer and hope for the best. However. When I used to iron I did shirts first. Then trousers/jeans then T-shirt’s.

As they come, I don’t mind ironing so don’t see it as a chore.

Same here.

Well, I do occasionally but it’s probably three times every five years or so. Less than once a year for sure.

I iron every few weeks and I’ll iron whatever’s at the top and do it all. I hate ironing and know if I went through the basket I wouldn’t iron the trickier items.

When I still lived with my mum and dad, my mum warned me that I wouldn’t buy anything with frills or ruffles as they’re difficult to iron when I moved out and she was so right!

I don’t mind ironing if I have something to watch on tv. I start with the worst so shirts first, then work trousers, then everything else. I don’t iron bedding or towels though.

I also do the whole lot and as it comes. I used to leave all the horrible things until the end, but found this very painful so stopped that. I try to iron as soon as its dry so I don't have too much to do at once.

I love it in the summer when I can dry it outside then have it ironed and put away the same evening
