Our first few trips were all parks but now it’s a case of choosing a few due to cost and exhaustion of it all. Happy to chill in the villa these days and enjoy the pool or a drive to the coast.
We still have 4 days left on non exp Disney tickets so will use those next trip prob 2022.

MH said that he went in September 2017 but not when he bought the tickets. He might have bought the tickets and booked the holiday before June 2016 and got over $1.5 to the pound.
Anyway, £2400 at 2017 prices to almost £3000 in 2021 is an average increase of around 5.5% per year, not taking into account changes in the exchange rate. That is higher than inflation, but not an unusual amount. If you factor in the exchange rate then it's probably in line with inflation. So, in summary, prices of tickets go up each year. In other news, water is wet. (And, yes, £3000 is a lot of money. If going for 2 weeks it works out at £54 per person per day at the theme parks).

Yes, a 2013 Universal 14-day ticket cost around £100. Of course, that was before Harry Potter came to Universal and demand to visit the Universal parks increased significantly. And before Universal added Volcano Bay. And long before something beginning with B significantly affected the exchange rate.
(Note: ticket prices vary throughout the year so the prices shown above only reflect a snapshot at the time I noted down the price). You can't beat a Denny's grand slam.

Thanks for posting the graph, it's good to know I hadn't lost the plot
I look at the overall cost and whether it's because of greedy theme parks or the exchange rates it's still the price it is, and I then decide if I'm prepared to pay it. I don't think many people would go to a theme park everyday during a 14 day holiday. We haven't usually done disney/universal parks more than 7 times on a 2 week holiday. So that would cost a family of 4 around £450 a day including parking just to walk in the park, before even buying a bottle of water. We also don't usually spend more than 4 hours at a time in a theme park, so we get less value out of the park tickets than most people do. Regardless how many times people go to theme parks on a 14 day ticket, providing they think it's worth the cost then it's worth the cost. Edited at 12:15 PM. |
