I love that . We do that too!

As I understand it, only the new 4th generation supports Apple Music. If I have one of the new ones, but then have the 3rd generation throughout the house, will I be able to play Apple Music through them? If that makes sense?

I dont know they are stand alone devices - Eg my one in my bedroom I can use with my iPhone to answer and makes calls but I cant with the one in my sitting room

PS just asked my Echo dot (3rd gen) to play Apple Music and it will link to my account via the app but I dont use apple music make use of free amazon music with prime but maybe worth you trying ?

What do people use them for? If you listen to music through them do you need a subscription to Apple or Amazon etc? Can they speak to each other, if I put one in the kitchen and one in the girls room can I tell the girls that tea is ready etc?

Radio is free and some music is free otherwise you need to link to your current music provider

Yes you can announce dinner is ready or call their mobiles etc - Alexa to Alexa anywhere in the world is possible eg I speak with my niece in Spain

You just say aAlexa (or whatever wake up word you decide to use) ANNOUNCE DINNER IS READY or whatever and it sends a chime and your message and it appears on your mobile phone too (or theirs if linked )

Bedtime chime is a lullaby

That sounds good. Is this for today only? I’ve just gone to look at them and I’m not a prime member so I’d have to sign up but I’d rather wait until tomorrow to so so.

You can get a 30-day trial of Prime for free, which I would guess will qualify you for these purchases.

You can cancel immediately, regardless, without paying a penny.

I don’t mind signing up, I have student membership and sometimes watch Tv with it etc, though I find the range of films limited. I’m just in bed and can’t be bothered doing it now lol, would wait until tomorrow to order them if I could but not if it’s only on offer today.
