Unhelpful Alamo!

I cannot believe Alamo and Virgin can be so unhelpful over such a small matter of adding an additional driver. I never had any hassle with U.S. Car Hire here in the UK who I always used to book with. Guess I know where I am going in the future!

Never had a problem with Virgin adding a driver and he was under 25. Just rung up and it was done.
What was the issue OP?

Both Alamo UK and USA and Virgin refuse to add additional driver. They say I have to take them into the desk on arrival. That means I cannot use the skip the counter facility!

We used USrentacar and had to upgrade to the Gold package to include an additional driver.

It isn't a big deal to go to the counter either chill out and just sort it out at the counter when you get there.

Strange, I have changed car sizes, added a driver etc with Virgin and never once had a problem. They will need to upgrade the insurance package to Gold plus or whatever it's called which gives you the additional driver and a tank of fuel but they will do it.
By the way with Virgin you don't do skip the counter you do online check in and that takes you straight to the garage
I would get on the phone to them
It's nothing to do with Alamo as your hire is through a third party supplier.

It isn't the end of the world though - sometimes I have had to queue other times straight to the desk, you are on holiday chillax!

You can use the self-check in kiosk though - it asks you if you want to add an extra driver as part of the process.
