are magic bands necessary?
Do we really need them on our first day at Disney, we are going to stay at the Contemporary for one night and have a pre park ADR at BOG that day, so planning to arrive and park at hotel by 7.30am, I will do online check in so just wondering if it's worthwhile going inside to pick up magic bands, we already have plastic tickets linked to MDE.
Will we need a parking pass to stay parked up all day too? |

They are more convenient but you don't need them at all.

Not necessary but are useful and give you access to ride videos and extra treats when in ride queues.
If I was getting them free then I would go inside and get them, but that's just me, but you don't really need them. |

Ideally you want to display a parking pass.

No, the MagicBands aren't necessary. If you already have some tickets you can just walk over to MK, go to BOG, enjoy the park for a few hours and then pick up your MagicBands later in the afternoon.
Remember that you'll need the MagicBands to enter your room, so you will have to pick them up from reception at some time (and, sort of, "check-in" again anyway). You could just pop into reception when you arrive in the morning and get them - assuming the queue isn't too long of course.

Usually if you have collected your magic bands, You will get an email with confirmation during the day that your room is ready and the room number which will save you having to contend with the checking in crowds around 2-4pm. Your luggage would also appear in your room too as they will have been allocated to a room in the morning. As far as I was aware they dont send an email out unless you have already collected your magic bands and checked in.
Its up to you though as yes not a necessity. Also
