Rising prices... book now or wait.

I see the prices are increasing at the moment, about 10% in the last 2 weeks (approx.)

Do prices just tend to go one way, i.e. up, or is it possible that they drop again. MCO, last 2 weeks of August is what I'm after.

Thanks for any advice.

I'd book when you can and with a company which offers free cancellation. If it comes down you can cancel and rebook.

If it goes up you haven't lost anything booking now.

As per the above post. It all depends on when you are going. Today I have booked an April 18 car hire. So cheap it knocked me sideways, less than I paid many years ago.

My 4 week Aug/Sept hire was booked last October. Never been within a mile of the price I got back then.

Ooh who did you book with if you don't mind me asking. We need Apr 18 but can't find a 7 seater for under £600 so was planning to use some avios points to get it to £420

Alamo Brits, dropped £100 from 2 days ago. Normally I hire Luxury but those prices are insane so I have gone for a Standard SUV.
Best of luck in your hunt.

Send Andy an E mail at discountfloridacarhire. Has some great prices

I've booked with autoeurope as free cancellation which I've done twice now due to cheaper price plus I signed up to their news letter and just got a 20% off so cancelled and rebooked.
I didn't find another hire firm come close.
All cars have been with Alamo.

Thank you, just checked and it's £1481 for a 7 seater!

Glad you got a good deal, will keep hunting

Avis with avios still cheapest so far, just need another couple of thousand points before I can book

Car hire companies changed their pricing model a couple of years ago to be more like airline pricing where generally the later you book, the more expensive it becomes. We always book as soon as we have flights book.

Are you 12th April for 14 nights?
If so Virgin Atlantic for a 7 seater is £600. Good price.

I used to do that. However being retired I have the time to research more and I am now booking the car first, only by a few weeks mind.
I am seeing car prices jumping all over the place whereas flight prices seem to be fairly steady with just the usual annual % increase.

However your philosophy is right - book early.
