I would think the vast majority of theme park fans would prefer Space Mountain over one of Universals many simulators

Which rides at Universal are better that young families can enjoy?

Popeye and Bluto, Minions and all of the Seuiss area for starters. I would turn the question around and ask 'Does Disney not need to up its game in the face of Universal?'.

I can see why you would think some rides are out dated.. for example E.T. When this ride first came out I bet the technology was brilliant for it's time. It's a classic and I love going on it every time I visit! They have removed a lot of dated rides like Jaws, Twister, Back To The Future etc so they are definitely trying to improve the park.

Also not many parks would completely demolish a roller coaster and re build it to make it smoother and look newer but they did that with The Hulk.

I think all theme parks have out dated rides though, even Disney. Peter Pan, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway etc but again they are all classics and people still go on them.

I think the question of relevance is an odd one as not everything is relevant to everyone?!

I enjoy seeing Doc Brown and Beetlejuice wandering around Universal and we love the Cat in the Hat ride. And these characters are mixed in with Simpsons, Harry Potter and Despicable Me.

Something for everyone, maybe not on the same scale as Disney.

I would question the relevance of Splash Mountain's characters. Who has seen Song of the South?! But imagine if it was rebranded, there would be an outcry. Much like E.T in Universal.

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but there is a reason that Universal are building new hotels, looking to build a 4th park(including VB) and now have their own waterpark. They're obviously doing something right

Wrong - we much prefer Universal rides over Space Mountain or any of the MK rides infact. We love the Transformers and Spider-Man simulator rides, also like Kong, wasn’t sure first time I rode it but it’s better the second time lol. My kids always preferred universal rides right from when they were around 8 years old.
