Modifying FP+ trying to get FOP

Hi, I’ve read up so much on this that I think my brain is going to explode!

We are a family of 5 and I have read that we are better off trying in smaller groups (2 + 3 or 2 +2+1) to try and book FP+ for the Pandora rides.

I’ve also read that if the ride you want is not available, book something else and then try and modify it by refreshing the screen (sometimes multiple times). So my question is, our FP window opens and neither ride in Pandora is available. Do I book for instance, Kali River Rapids as a group of 5 and keep trying to modify ( I realise I may never be lucky enough to find a FP for FOP) or do I book the FP for KRR in smaller groups 2 + 3 etc... and try to modify that way?

We are also travelling with another family of 6 who will also be trying to do the above too! I think it will be a miracle if we all manage to get overlapping FP’s!

But we are all prepared to rope drop these rides anyway but not sure we can drag 6 teenagers/young adults out of bed that early more than once!
