Alamo Debit Card When picking up car

We have 2 cars when we arrive at MCO next July and just trying to get as much info as i can befroehand but just wondering what peoples experiences with Alamo in respect to how much they take as a shadow payment when you pick the car up, they say in their T&Cs '...Alamo will take an authorisation on the credit card of $1 but no other deposit amount will be taken... ' as i don't have a credit card i would like to know if this is all they take or is their a range of figures.

Thanks

Tonnes of threads on this and tonnes of mixed experiences. If you have paid in advance you may get a shadow of $1 or more, if you have still to pay expect a shadow of the full value for a week

As above. I only get $1 in the days before we go 'hovering' on my Barclaycard then it drops off.

As an aside make sure you upgrade the Insurance from VH as the basic is woefully inadequate!

Sage advice from MrTM always cover yourselves nearly all packages are as posted worse than crap,I will not include BA in this as they include a proper insurance package with their flydrives and holidays.
NB I don't work for them unless best price I don't use but the product they sell in this area is 100% superior to other's.

A very good comment.

I know for a fact that some Dibbers have driven rental cars in Florida not realising the Insurance they have is nowhere near enough to cover them in a bump!

BA is the exception to the rule

This is something that needs looking at by ABTA or whoever covers these so called packages that have huge gaps in them.

And sensible by you to ensure you have correct cover what myself and MrTM are implying that BA has required insurance included as standard others don't and more scarily don't advise as so.
It is fine if a member of a forum to pick up info what happens if not ? ?
