Public beaches here don't tend to have sun loungers.

We had a gorgeous day at Anna Maria Island and are definitely planning to go back. White sands, warm water and some facilities. I don't remember any sun loungers, we just took towels though bought some body boards from Walmart beforehand. Beautiful place and felt 'old school' America.

Clearwater beach... calm warm seas, miles of white powder sands. Plenty of sun loungers to rent. Food and drink places aplenty. In the evening sunset you can visit the sunset celebration on pier 60. Plus if your there at weekends they do a movie on the grass next to pier 60... Bring your chair/blanket. Fabulous place to relax!

Daytona Beach has sun loungers to rent and you can park on the beach. There are dozens of restaurants. Sharks are usually a little further south at New Smyrna Beach.

The sea will be warm off any resort in August.

Cocoa Beach is our favourite. We haven't seen any sharks there, but never say never

Melbourne - we spent a wonderful day there, fantastic shells, loads of pelicans and a rainbow thing around the sun.

St Petes Beach, 15 miles south of Clearwater has plenty of restaurants & loungers for rent on the beach.
