Manatee Viewing Center

Today we visited the Manatee Viewing Center at the Power Station south of Tampa at Apollo Beach.

Brilliant place to go during the winter months, Nov to April.

Today there was at least 100 Manatees, Adults and their calves enjoying the warm water from the Power Station. Also large Tampon fish, Black Tip Sharks and Rays jumping out of the water.

We were there for nearly 4 hours. slowly walking around the viewing platform, and also the Tidal Walkway Nature Trail, where there is tiny Fiddler crabs, hard to see, only about the size of a 1 cent coin.

The Center is free, we only paid 75c each for a tea and coffee, you can also get hot dogs and hot sandwiches. Also an exhibition center that tells you all about the Manatees and also the Power Station. Also a well stock gift shop.

Let's say we certainly recommend it to any Dibber heading to the Gulf Coast and will certainly go again.

We have been and really enjoyed it, we are back in 2 weeks and hope the manatees are still there as soon as the waters start getting warmer they are off.

We visit every time we are at the Gulf Coast.

It really is exceptional value, free to park and get in... As mentioned above, great gift shop and cafe really good quality at cheap prices.

Will be there next week... Woohoo
