China 144 hr visa question
I have a question re the 144 hr China visa-
We plan to fly into Shanghai and spend a couple of days at Disney and one in shanghai. We then wanted to fly domestically to Dayong and spend a day seeing the Tianmen mountains before we fly to Tokyo. Is this permitted or would we need to apply for a visitors visa? |

Not sure if it's changed now but when the layover visa exemptions were first introduced you had to stay within the administrative region of the airport you were flying into.
This from the Chinese Embassy; From the 1st January 2015, citizens of the following countries holding a valid travel document, a transit flight ticket with a confirmed departure seat and date leaving within 144 hours, who transit via Beijing (Beijing Capital International airport) or Shanghai (Shanghai Pudong International airport and Hongqiao International airport) to a third country (region) may be exempt from a transit visa, provided that their stay within the Beijing or Shanghai administrative regions does not exceed 144 hours -Steve
