Civitechveccio and Rome 14.8.13
We got up at 6.30 this morning as we had a trip booked to Rome. All washed and dressed and down to Parrot Cay we all had the usual Cereal, Juice, Waffles and Bacon with lots of coffee to wash it all down.
We had to meet the tour group at Studio Sea we were given number 22 stickers which was our bus number and we waited until everyone had arrived. We were on our way at 8 o'clock our guide was a man and he was called Adriano he gave us a talk about Civitechveccio on the bus as we were on our way to Rome. We arrived in Rome at 9.40 and met our guide she was called Sabrina. We got off the coach and walked to the Trevie Fountain it is very impressive and we all tossed a coin into the fountain. Nigel and Rebecca had an Ice Cream each and I had a Granita not the best I've ever had they put the slushed ice in the cup and then topped it off with the lemon flavoured syrup. Then we walked to the Roman Forum which was very interesting and that is where Julius Cesar was buried. This was a very busy place lots of tours going around, and there were queues of people waiting to get in. After leaving the Roman Forum we walked to the Colossium which wasn't that far but wow what an amazing sight. After we left the Colossium we got back on the bus and headed to the Vatican. We got off the bus and walked to the Vatican and we were given a voucher each for an ice cream, we were then told we had about 2 and a half hours free time to explore on our own. We headed off towards the Piazza Nuvono, on our way there we stopped in a little cafe and had lunch. We ordered 1 ham and mushroom Pizza and 1 cheese and tomato with 3 granitas we had strawberry, lemon and orange it cost us 27.00Euros and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We got to the Piazza Nuvono and had a walk around and took a few photos. When we had finished at Piazza Nuvono we walked to The Panthenon which wasn't very far we were so glad that we had gone exploring on our own as it was definately worth going to see. We then had to change our memory card in the camera as I had managed to fill a 4gb card already I had taken 833 photos and also some videos I can't believe it I have never filled a memory card before. So we headed back towards the vatican as our meeting time was 4.15. Continued in next post |

We got back to the Vatican with about half an hour to spare so Rebecca and Nigel got their free ice creams and I went inside the cafe to get us all drinks I got 2 Largers and 1 Coke and spent 18.00 Euros that was the best 18.00Euros I'd spent all day as I really needed that cold refreshing drink and was a bit fed up of bottled water. Suitably refreshed we went to take a look at the vatican. When all of our group was ready we headed back towards our bus back to Civitechveccio. This is Rebecca with Adriano this is the view we had of her most of the day it was almost as if she was having her own personal guided tour of Rome as she was by his side all day. We past one of the Swiss Guards on our way to the bus. We got back on the bus at 5.00 for our hour and a half return journey to the ship. Adriano came around a gave us all a bottle of water each and wet wipes to refresh our faces they were well needed it had been a particularly hot day. We got back to the ship at 6.10 and our meal was supposed to be at 6.00 but we all needed a shower we had checked the previous night about being late back from our trip and we were told that as long as we were seated for 7pm we would be ok. My god it was a real quick turnaround to have all 3 of us showered and dressed and to Animators Palette for 7, but we did it just. We ordered food I had spicy tomato soup and the fillet steak, Rebecca had roasted chicken breast and you've guessed it chips. Nigel had the melon cup and the veal shank, he also had a pint of larger and I had a cocktail. Our servers Cyprian and Arya. For dessert I had the Kahula Cheesecake Rebecca Had the Chocolate Brownie and Nigel had a Sundae we also tried the chocolate cake between us. After our meal Rebecca wanted to go to the club so we dropped her there and then Nigel and I went to the theatre to watch Villains Tonight, we really enjoyed the show. After the show we went to he Promanade Lounge for a drink I had a frozen orange Margarita which was nice and Nigel had a larger. We picked Rebecca up from the Club at 11pm as I was exhausted and in need of my bed the don't call me Ms Sleepy for nothing. |
