As I said in post #6 doing API seems to be inconsistent on the status of your ESTA. What's the point of putting your ESTA at risk though?

Thanks OP for this thread and for the responses.

I've recently booked flights for next year and a couple of our passports need renewing. I wasn't sure if I could then apply for Esta so good to know.

As per Mick's thoughts I won't do any API until such time as the Proclamation is rescinded. If it's rescinded. Thanks Mick.

Had an email last week from the ESTA 'people' advising that Mrs Grandee's ESTA will expire in Oct 2020 (applied in Oct 18), Fine, had this before when previous ESTAs were due to expire. What we haven't had before was this phrase - It is not possible to extend or renew a current ESTA travel authorization. You will need to apply for a new ESTA travel authorization - in the email. Anybody had this recently?

That’s the same language that is always in the email. Because you always apply for a new ESTA when one expires (whether that is because the 2 years are up or your passport has expired).

I don't know about TC Bonny Lass but I'm the epitome of a well behaved British tourist. Yorkshire men never let the side down.

Essex men are known for their impeccable behaviour too, Mick.
