EMH and fast pass?

If you go into say MK on a EMH day and have booked fast passes for that morning can you go on any rides before your fast pass time or do they scan your bands? Im just wondering how it works. Could you say go in early and go to say seven dwarfs even if you have booked a fast pass for later that morning? Im quite an early bird so plan on getting to any park we are going to early.

If your onsite. Go to an EMH park and get as much done as possible without fastpasses. They aren't available in the first hour anyway. Then book fastpasses for later in the day. You can go on anything before a fastpass. Your bands aren't scanned. We are doing EPCOT EMH. At 8 I plan on doing Test Track and Misson Soace first thing and anything else we can manage before our breakfast ADR. I will have my first fastpasses from 11am onwards.
