I've just realised I've booked my 3yr old in the seat across the aisle instead of me or DH! What a silly mistake! I daren't swap them as the cabin is almost full.
When we went last year we were a family of four but later on we booked my eldests boyfriend onto the trip with us , he was sat beside us but separated by the aisle into the middle block, we had two rows of two by window.
My daughter wanted to sit with her boyfriend so myself and OH took it in turns of sitting in her boyfriends seat and spending time sat with youngest daughter.

No it doesn't matter. My wife is scared of flying and wanted to sit on her own in the aisle I made the mistake of putting my son there when I booked, she just sat it that seat.
Nobody said anything as they don't check or even look at you ticket unless you are in someone's seat and they complain.

We plan to swap as I didn't realise I had booked by two ds's together and me and dh behind. They can't sit together for 5minutes, so definitely won't make 9 hours!

I always remember a Balkanair flight we took back in the early 90's. The plane had been delayed due to lack of money to buy fuel and we were all rushed on the plane last minute. What we didn't know is that they wanted to fly from Varna to Bourgas to refuel there which came as a surprise because as soon as we had taken off the pilot came on and got everyone ready to land again.

Anyone as we were all getting on we were told not to bother where we sat it was just smoking on the left and non-smoking on the right!

Officially because (as has already been said) if the flight comes down the easiest way for the investigators to work out who is who is from the seating plan, but in reality so long as you only sit in your own groups seats no-one is going to give any notice

Traveling with my 3 kids is like a 9hr game of musical chairs, and we've never been told to return to our original booked seats by the crew

We went in a group of 8 last time (2 families) and both DS & DD's from each family wanted to sit together but we had booked the seats in families, no one said anything

We are frequent flyers and often swap seats depending on who wants to sit where. Never been questioned, except if DH gets an upgrade then it has to be him taking it.

Thank you all. I feel reassured now. I was mainly worried about take off and landing as I don't want her on her own across the aisle.
