Finally UPDATED! 4/11 - Keeping to a budget - offsite & Universal food pre-trip report - Oct ‘18
Hi there!
Welcome to my pre-trip report. Hopefully you’ll be joining us for our Orlando feast! Day 1 - Travel Day (part 1) Day 1 - Travel Day (part 2) Day 2 - Shopping, Disney Springs, Popping into IOA and CityWalk Day 3 - US, IDrive outlets and Texas de Brazil Day 4 - IHOP & HHN Day 5 - Volcano Bay, HHN & Steak & Shake Day 6 - Islands of Adventure, Altamonte Mall & Taco Bell Day 7 - Putting Edge, Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ, Blue Man Group & Hash House a Go Go We are a couple in our early 30’s with lots of Orlando/WDW visits under our belts. We will be spending two weeks in Orlando & since this holiday wasn’t really meant to be happening at all... we’re going to stick to a budget... all things going well! We are staying in a hotel, so no cooking amenities and will only be visiting the Universal parks. We both have fairly adventurous tastes, but do have a habit of sticking to what we know we love. The aim is to stick to $100 a day for all food and drink for the two of us, all going well. I’ve got a list of favourite places as well as some new ones we’d like to try. Since we aren’t doing WDW our plans are really flexible, so I don’t have anything booked at all yet. We’re planning on upgrading our Universal tickets to annual passes so will have a discount on Universal / citywalk food and drinks. Old favourites Longhorn Panda Express Ihop Mythos Margaritaville Earl of Sandwich Cheesecake Factory Cracker Barrel Newbies Hard Rock Hotel breakfast buffet First watch Keke’s Sweet Tomatoes Teak Neighbourhood Grill Blaze Pizza Wine Bar George Snacks Voodoo donuts The big Simpsons donut Diagon Alley ice cream HHN pizza fries Dole Whip (if we end up visiting the Poly) Vouchers - Hash House a-go-go - Travelzoo -$29 for $50 of food - Smashburger - groupon $10.12 (after discount) for $20 of food - Cici’s - groupon $2 (after discount) for buffet & drink for 2 - Steak & Shake - $25 gift card for $20 ($5 free for Halloween) What’dya think? Fancy joining along for the ride? Edited at 11:49 PM. |

Definitely coming along for the ride. Are you staying onsite at a Universal Hotel or somewhere offsite as you don't say where you're staying. Just helps to give local recommendations!

Welcome! My boyfriend isn’t much of a breakfast eater, so I’m really hoping I can convince him a buffet is worth it...!
Welcome! Welcome! We are staying offsite. Down by Disney actually. I know it’s a strange choice but the hotel looked ok for the (very) low price and I like driving out there. Plus we can still do some of the WDW things that you don’t need a ticket for. I’ve realised how much I’ve missed off my lists... Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ and/or 4Rivers are definitely on the to try list. I’m sure there’s plenty more I’m forgetting! |
