What have I started?
My mum is a hero to me, and I definitely don’t show her my appreciation enough. So this year for Christmas I wanted to do something a little different.
Rather than getting her a present to open on Xmas day, I am going to wrap up 12-one for each month of next year. On the first of each month she can open the relevant gift. Well, it is proving a little tricky, and also costly, to come up with gift ideas. She loves seeing, so I have bought her an Easter sewing pattern (I will give it to her about February time so she has enough time to see if for Easter). I was also thinking of buying her a Poppy scarf from The Poppy Appeal site, would give it probably October so she can use it for the autumn. Do you have any suggestions?

How about experience type gifts. Tickets to a film or something she would like to see, or a voucher for a restaurant

I have though about loading a Costa card and giving it to her.
Her favourite flowers are daffodils, I might put some money in an envelope for March and tell her to buy some flowers that month

What about a HobbyCraft gift card.
A Christmas puzzle 1000 pieces, or one in the summer with a picture of flowers or sewing things. Book up an afternoon tea one month for the two of you, I am sure mum will love the special time together. Our local garden centre does one at a very reasonable price. Does mum like the pictures? You could make a small hamper up with popcorn, chocolate, a drink and picture vouchers to go see a film. Or if mum would prefer to watch a dvd then make the hamper for home with her favourite film and drink added. Have fun looking around, some amazing ideas come up once you start to think. |
