Apostrophe Use - Disney. I'm Confused!

I must admit I haven't got much knowledge on the use of apostrophes and just chuck them in where they look good

This has stumped me though.

Last year Disney changed the name of the Disney's Magical Express to the Disney Magical Express as the apostrophe usage was wrong.

They are now marketing Disney's Riviera Resort.

Surely that can't be right then?

Apostrophes show possession so yes
Disney’s magical express. As it belongs to Disney
Disney’s Rivera as it belongs to Disney.

I think the The in “the Disney magical express negates apostrophes

a woman's hat
the boss's wife
Mrs. Chang's house

Actually, I’m confused now

Mmm, but they changed the bus from Disney's to Disney.

I knew I shouldn't have left school at 15!

An apostrophe used like that shows belonging or possession so Disney’s Magical Express means the Magical Express belonging to Disney. The Disney Magical Express means the Magical Express that will get you to Disney.

Disney’s Riviera Resort means the Riviera Resort that belongs to Disney. Correct usage I’d say.

I guess it depends if it's the bus belonging to Disney ... Disney's. OR the title Disney magical Express. In which case it's not the bus belonging to Disney?

Personally I’d say there was nothing wrong grammatically with Disney’s Magical Express as it did belong to Disney. I’d guess they wanted a change in emphasis.

Very expensive change of emphasis! Every bus had to have a new vinyl wrap.
Gosh that must have cost Disney big bucks as I doubt Mears would pay for it.

Maybe since the Magical Express was operated by Mears, it was technically not Disney’s Magical Express, but Mears’ Magical Express taking you to Disney.
Just speculating but there may have been legal issues (eg around expectations in making Insurance claims in the event of an accident or similar) which means it was worth the change to accurate grammar.

That’s ok, they will just put their prices up again

Dear old Geoffa used to love the occasional apostrophe thread.

Who remembers the "Grocer's Apostrophe" thread a couple of years back. Baked bean's
