Disney Dining Plan - Breakfast
Here is a stupid question - I just found out the DDP doesn’t include breakfast so what does everyone on a plan do for breakfast?
If we have to buy breakfast every day how much are we looking at needed to spend?

Sorry not sure what you mean by this? If you are staying at AKL you get DDP meaning 1 QS credit, 1TS credit and 2 snack credits per night of your stay. Depending on what you and your family prefer to eat for breakfast, you could use a snack credit for a pastry or cereal, a QS credit for a hot meal at your resort for example or a TS credit on a full on breakfast buffet. Either way leaves you with lunch and dinner options - no need to be buying food!

Ah ok that makes sense - I’m going to have to try and track down a snack list from somewhere so we can see what our breakfast type options are due to food allergies in the family

I don't think anyone ever goes short of food on the DDP. You might need to shift your expectations away form eating exactly 3 meals a day in the way you do at home. For example you may use a TS credit for an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast, and then only need a snack in the middle of the day before having a QS dinner. On another day you may have several items which Disney define as a snack, but which altogether are more than enough for a meal (snacks from kiosks at Epcot's Food and Wine Festival, or Flower and Garden Festival can often be used like this).
"Snacks" on the DDP are many and varied - they aren't just ice cream or popcorn. Also, bear in mind that many QS meals are more than big enough to share. So you could share a QS breakfast, have a TS lunch and then use another QS credit to share a QS dinner - and you won't even have used your snack credits for the day. When people say the DDP is plenty of food, they really mean it! More information in this great thread too: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1011133 |

Once you get there you’ll get into the flow of using your credits. When on DDP we usually do a variety of using snacks, quick service credits or table service credits but we also tend to buy some stuff from Walmart for a quick breakfast.

In the heat a lot of people tend to not eat three full meals a day, some of the buffet breakfasts are character meals and good use of a TS credit.

When making any reservations you can add allergies at the time of booking as well. Always let the server know too when you check in, often the chef will come over and go through things with you. Similarly with buffets they will advise what you can have and in certain cases prepare something especially. For the more 'common' dietary needs such as gluten free or dairy free there will always be options available

It does seem a bit odd at first to only get 2 meals a day if you are used to having 3 but with a little planning its doable
We either do a ts buffet breakfast, snack for lunch then qs dinner or breakfast in our room then qs lunch/ ts dinner (or visa versa) we're not huge breakfast eaters so I usually just get some cereal & milk for our room but there are lots of snacks like pastries/bagels/fruit that you could pick up for a lighter breakfast. Allergy wise check out glutenfreedairyfreewdw they list most of the current allergy menus for disney. There isn't a section specifically for snacks but it will give you an idea of what is available |

Since Disney added the QSDP I always got up 1st showered then went the restaurant to refill our mugs and picked up bagels and cereal and used just 1 snack credit each.
Then we eat a early lunch in the park and a meal on the night. Then we usually have a snack in between or a drink. |

When we go to DLP, we just get the half board meal plan, and always find it’s plenty of food, so I’m sure we’ll feel the WDW DDP is more than enough. In DLP, half board gets us breakfast and one other meal - we used to get a snack as well, and that was easily enough to keep us full all day. Since they got rid of the snacks, we take our own. From the sound of the ‘snacks’ at WDW, we’ll be unlikely to even use up our daily allocation a lot of the time, and end up using them all in one go for take-home snacks at the end!
