Has anyone been to key west in September?
I’m planning our trip for next year, we fancy going to key west stopping at Miami on the way. Does anyone think this is a bad idea with it being hurricane season?

We did it about 12 years ago. Our 2 days at Islamorada were a write off due to bad weather, but we did get a couple of good days in Key West.
It's a gamble at that time of year. Good weather makes the Keys, and there is a risk of getting heavy wet weather, never mind a hurricane. That said, we'd never book anywhere if we worried about the weather. We've been to Orlando in May and its rained heavy every day. We just got back from another May trip a a few weeks ago and it was 38 degrees and didn't rain once, not a single drop! It was warmer than previous August visits. |

Book your hotels on a cancellable basis - will give you a chance to check for potential hurricane tracks.

Where do you stay? I’ve seen Havana Cabana. Is there anything you recommend doing on the way down?

I don’t mind being in Orlando in the rain (prefer the sun ☀️) but I don’t fancy being in a hurricane down at the keys 🙈 I might do it for the beginning of October so at the end of our trip

With September the real hurricane season you are chancing the fact that they could be evacuating the Keys when you have booked to go. We were in Orlando Sept 2017 between two really bad hurricanes and even had to cancel going to Anna Maria Island because of the devastation a week earlier.
