Pain 8 months after gallbladder removed
Had my gallbladder removed 8 months ago and have had no issues since. Yesterday I got pain, bloating, nausea - all that felt very much just like gallstone pain felt like. Today I felt terrible nausea and a stabbing pain that travelled to the right to my back.
Which is weird as my gallbladder is gone ?!? Has anyone experienced something similar?

You should go straight back to your GP for a referral without delay.

Yes booked appointment - first one they had is Friday morning.
I hope I get someone who doesnt wave it off as indigestion... one of them did when I had been hospitalised a few years ago with “inconclusive” abdominal pain...

I’ve had my gallbladder removed and have also had identical pain. Apparently you can still have stones without a gallbladder 🤔. However, in my instance I’m confident it was due to taking opioid medication (codiene). Haven’t touched it since and, touch wood, no more pain.

Same pain here my Doc said it’s my IBS, but it feels like the same pain I went to the hospital with before they removed my gallbladder.

I had mine removed just over 2 yrs ago and still have to be careful what i eat. Fatty/greasy food doesn't do me any good. I definately cant eat lamb doner meat but that might be psychological as well as thats what set me off with gall bkadder pain originallt!
Ive stopped drinking milk and now have soya milk and that has helped me a lot!

thanks all - I didnt know you could still get that sharp, stabbing pain. During the first 3-4 months after op that as soon as I had anything fatty, I would feel uncomfortable but nothing like this. Will se what dr’s say tomorrow. I am still very nauseaus and dont dare eat anything of fear of getting the pain again. Will try some melon today.

Had mine out 9 years ago, and opioids can sometimes have the same effect now. Never used to affect me before but since the op they do. Could be that?

Don’t take any opiods so its not that. Still have pain but now dull and kind of ”warm” inside instead of stabbing - but then I have only eaten melon and peppermint tea today.
