The huge flight of stairs that lead up to the observation deck has a light show at night. The lights are on the stairs themselves and there was sound along with the lights. Google it as it’s hard to explain!

The other phone has better pictures. This is a shaky view of the show in the distance. We were coming down the skywalk.

Ok. In tokyo proper after a few day trips. Tokyo (for us) has been a letdown. Now, thats a bold statement so let me explain. Osaka and Kyoto have really spoilt us. Kyoyo is fantastic, everyone is polite, the pace ia good, prices are good and there are great things to do.
Tokyo is very similar to other metropolis areas. It reminds me of new york with a veneer of politeness but the veneer is cracked. If we would have stopped in Tokyo before Kyoto then we would have enjoyed the first few days of tokyo more. Still, we have another week to go and will probably dip back into disney using the credit card on Monday... Maihama station is an easy transfer from tokyo central. It also didnt help that the airbnb we booked for tokyo was utter *****. Really ******* *****. Good. Now that is out of the way, we were offered immediate refund after showing the pictures of the filth, hair, mess, nasty microwave etc. Then something amazing happened. A mobile only less than 50% at the hotel grand palace bordering tokyo park. We couldnt believe our luck. Now this is a good hotel, sure the cocktails are 1500y each but the view from the cocktail lounge are brilliant. The staff apologised that the room we were entitled to only had 3 double beds not a king and 2 double. Oh well, however should we cope Edited at 07:09 AM. |

Loving the reports.
Does anyone have any ideas for non Disney things to do for 3 days without moving hotels. Where can you go that is no further than an hour or two on a train.

3 hours gets you to Kyoto. 2 hours will get to you Fuji. you can go anywhere in Tokyo from Disney Maihama station in 40 mins. Off the top of my head, in Tokyo:
*Imperial Gardens - opposite Tokyou station - 40 mins from hotel to park entrance. *tokyo station - there is enough to do in (more accurate to say under) the train station. *government building viewing platform - its free and about 40 mins from disney station. *robot restaurant - my god this is a absolute mental show. I'll be posting about this in the trippy. About 40 mins from the disney station. *Ninja Restaurant. A bit touristy and not cheap but a very good evening. *Akihabara in the evening. Like blackpool on steroids. *Various shrines, we liked Kanda in the dusk. *Ghibli museum. We didnt get tickets but wanted to go. Camp the website on the 10th of each month at 1AM to get a chance. *Pokemon cafe. Again, try to book if you can, we couldnt. *teamlabs borderless art museum. Google it. It is a bit of a pain to get to though with a number of changes. Are you feeling BRAVE? If so, set off at 6AM from Maihama and be in universal studios at 10AM... Sleep on the shinkansen for a couple of hours and get back to the hotel at midnight. Edited at 11:39 AM. |
