Has anybody ever put their passport through the wash?

Because I just have.

It’s intact and everything still readable, just very soggy. So currently drying on the heated towel rack.

I travel on March 3rd, so not a long time to sort out a replacement if that’s the route to go down?

Yes I have. It looked ok but it wasn't and I had to get a new one. Not the news you wanted to hear probably. I personally wouldn't risk it.

I'm unsure how you would check that it's still okay to use, but someone will know. Probably be a new one, but it should come through quickly.

Mine got wet in my bag when my water bottle leaked and it needed to be replaced- this was before I renewed in 2015 and got my first machine-readable passport, so I would imagine that there is even more reason to replace it now. I would ask at a place that does check and send.

go on gov website as I do believe you will need to get it replaced.

Just read another post on here about Passport turnaround time. It only took 9 days from doing the online application to getting the Passport. I assume this was a renewal not a replacement but I'd get on the Gov website asap to apply for a replacement Passport.

I put both ours in the wash by mistake...was told had to be renewed ..
So very expensive mistake...you could depending you live take to an airport or dock see what security think...good luck..
