Post office have a checking service, they charge a few quid but you'll know everything required is in with the application ...

I've also done the go to the passport office thing. It's easy to get to the passport office as it's adjacent to Victoria station. Just walk out the side exit (just before platform 19) turn left and its right there. I did same day, we had an appointment to lodge at 11am and was told it'd be ready by six pm (was ready by 4pm in the end) but the in person is much more expensive.

Depends where in London you work is easiest but both are doable.

Okay so I have an appointment for Wednesday afternoon this week, and the passport should come 1 week from then.

I still have to go to the Post Office and get the form. However the info I have so far doesn't clarify if I need to get photos countersigned etc again? I'm hoping maybe not as it's a replacement?

So just to close this one out, on Monday last week I made the appointment for the "One Week Fast Track", and had my appointment at the London Passport office on Wednesday (luckily this was only a 25 minute hop on the Tube from my office).

It was ready quicker than a week and I woke to a text message on Saturday morning saying they were delivering today. Luckily I had a lazy Saturday planned so just waited in my apartment for it to come, but then just around lunchtime I got a text message saying they had attempted delivery but it hadn't been successful and I needed to re-book. I have to question how hard they tried, as I was there the whole time.

So when I re-booked you can change address, and I requested it for my work address. They then said it would be delivered Wednesday (today) and I started to stress a little bit, as if there were any more complications I am really short on time as I am out of office all of next week at a conference, and then have the Florida flights straight after that.

But just now I got a call from the office's loading bay man to let me know it was here. So I have been down, collected it and just done my new ESTA application. Hopefully that all gets processed without hitch, and then I am good to go. Just with £150 less spending money on the trip now thanks to the Passport Charge.
