We used to stay outside portaventura rather than on site, we stayed a few times at H10 Mediterranean Village in cap salou, easy enough to get to the park they have a land train outside runs regularly up to there and through salou itself. The hotel had lovely pools and in cap salou itself nice quieter bars, I found salou itself a bit rowdy but my daughter was younger then

Thanks, we have done salou and wasn’t a fan, but we loved the day we spent at portaventura, so thought onsite would be good x

We stayed in hotel portaventura (I think) it had a separate entrance through the hotel to the parks. Nice pool. I think park tickets also included. I'd stay there again.

We've stayed at the on site hotels Hotel PortAventura which is half board and has it's own entrance to the park, and Hotel El Paso which is all inclusive and a short walk away from the entrance. We much preferred the Hotel Portaventura

We always stay at Cap Salou, it's outside of Salou and a lot nicer, a nice little cove with some nice walks. We stay in the Cala Font, there's a bus at the top of the hill that takes you everywhere including PortAventura. You can buy a bus pass, I think it's €10-€12 and from what I remember it's then €1 per trip, you can share the pass between. We're back off there this September. You could also stay at Cambrils which is a nice little town. That will have buses too. If you look at Bus Plana, you'll be able to see all the routes.
