A plea to those that can

I am one of the fortunate people who knows they will be paid and will have a job to return to. I'm well aware not everyone will be so lucky.

Our local food banks are pretty bare at the moment and my school have set up a payroll giving system so that we may donate money each month from our salary. I know there are lots of children and families that live below the poverty line already so I'm grateful school have made it so easy for me to be able to give something back.

This weekend I've also contacted my hairdresser who runs a mobile business on her own and has a young daughter and my beautician who has a small shop where she gives treatments. I've said that I would like to pay them what I would normally be paying them even though the appointments may not go ahead. I know it's just a drop in the ocean, but I'd hate the idea of them struggling over the next few weeks or months and want to do all I can to help them.

I thought I'd share what I'm doing here as I'm sure some of you would like to be able to do more to help.

DH and I are lucky that our income is safe.

Our little private gym that we go to - its a basic spit and sawdust place who's owner has put her heart and soul into it - and lives on a shoestring anyway! has had to shut.

We will be continuing our memberships for the forseeable future.

When we can get back out i will continue doing my food bank donations - if theres anything left!

That's great Katie. I'm keen to spread as much kindness and support as I can.

We've set up a what's app group in the close i live in. There's only 8 houses, 2 of which have elderly people, the rest all families with kids and 3 of us are key workers. We're going to look out for each other, shop, share whatever we can.

I'm sure there are thousands if not millions of people who are doing the same thing too. There is a lot of kindness in the world and I'm hopeful it outweighs the selfishness.
