I don’t think the million pound analogy works. It’s there, that’s a fact. Someone could go and get it and bring it to you if they really wanted to. You could touch it and see it. I’m not sure how you’d find it hard to prove to your children that a million pounds on the tv is real and yet expect them to believe in the drawing on the wall. Religion is a belief which is where it differs. You can’t see oxygen but you can see the effects of depriving it, it’s a scientific fact that it’s there. It’s fine for people to have the belief but it’s not comparable to fact.

I feel I should add: no one has to explain their religion or why they believe, and I support a person’s right to believe in whatever they want, I just don’t think it’s correct to compare it to something that can be proven to exist so easily.

Not always. Superstitious people often suffer from guilt which is not comforting at all.

That’s really interesting, as I have also experienced guilt too. Though not for superstitious reasons.
