In 2018 26 million people in USA caught the Flu and 19000 died. Just to put this virus in perspective.

Love your optimism but could you share your credible source/qualifications for these claims?

This virus is only just hitting the USA and death toll is over 1k already with no vaccine as of yet!

The flu is a known quantity each year and as such is acknowledged each year like motor vehicle related fatalities if u get me.

I hope it isn't as bad as predicted and seeing what China, Italy, Spain etc are going through.

We haven’t seen the final USA figures for this virus yet. You can’t put it into perspective until you have seen them.

I think Robby is in the camp of knowing how bad this virus is and that’s the perspective he’s looking at. Well I assume he is given Italy have 80,000 cases and 8,000 deaths. Ie 1 in 10 at the moment instead of 1 in 1300(approx) for the US flu stat they gave.

the point i was trying to make is that the USA had 19000 deaths from flu with a vaccine available and did not shut down the country. And that is every year. yes statistically Coronavirus is more deadly but lets be realistic for a minute. How long can you shut down the world economy before the cure is worse than the disease? After 6 months the damage is generational. Do you really think the leaders of the world will do that when the majority of deaths are the old? it's a terrible decision that will have to be made at some point if it this can't be contained and a vaccine found.
this post was meant to be about low flight prices to the place we all love so maybe drop this now and get back to that?

To be fair the OP posted the flight price AND asked whether people were tempted or put off by the uncertainty.

For me I don’t think in the U.K. it will be going on still but Trump’s approach as an economic issue has a far greater risk of a longer first outbreak and a more severe second wave next flu season.

We would be tempted but our travel insurance changed their T&C on 18th March and we wouldn't be covered now for Covid 19 on future bookings at the moment so will be waiting till it settles down I think before making any decisions!
