Alamo Cancellation Concern
Hi Dibbers
I cancelled my Alamo booking on Sunday because Ive found a better price. Problem is I haven't had a email confirming cancellation. How long does it take? How long does it take for the money to be refunded? I have checked on the Alamo site and they say it has been cancelled. I don't want to book until I get confirmation. Any info would help. Thanks BB |

Did you book direct with Alamo or through a UK agent?
I cancelled with Auto Europe in January and the credit card credit was applied within 3 days.

I booked direct with Alamo. I just don't feel right booking another car without the refund. I'll check Wed /Thurs

Card processing payments usually take around 4 days +/- a day.

Same for me. However cancelling one with Alamo Brits was a nightmare.
They wouldn’t refund me so after 1 month of their lunatic responses I did a charge back on my Credit Card. Barclaycard refunded me 48 hours after I sent them the chain of E Mails which was like a script from Fawlty Towers!

Let me guess, Alamo responding that you need to approach strathearn publisher for a refund because you booked with them and not Alamo? Typical scripted robot response from them.
Blue Baloo, if you do have an issue and Alamo start giving you the run around, let me know and I'll get it sorted for you. |

Andy. No it wasn’t Strathearn actually. They repeatedly said I hadn’t booked with them. Then they found the booking and saw it was cancelled and on 3 occasions they responded I had booked with Auto Europe!
The only thing that keeps me going is the knowledge that these admin clerks are just as bad no matter which rental company employs them. Always pay by a credit card.
