Mobile Thoughts on the Boathouse

Got an ADR for dinner at the Boathouse with my DH and DD (4).
Read the good reviews but having second thoughts about if it is worth x2 credits using DDP.
DH loves steak but do you need to pay extra for sides? Where else does great steaks for less credits? Or is this a do-not-miss restaurant?
Thanks!

I think it depends what you order as t whether it is worth two credits. Many items are quite affordable, in which case I would be inclined to OOP.

The menus usually state whether the come with anything, so looking at this menu, it doesn’t look like the sides are included, but that is not from experience.

I don’t believe there are any not to miss restaurants as we are all different. But I would not have said the Boathouse is one the dibbers frequently talk about. I am going in April and will use dining credits but I am on the deluxe plan so have them to spare, I would probably pay cash if I had a normal plan.

We paid OOP for lunch there as we were on QSDP but I didn’t think it was worth it. It may have been menu choice but I wouldn’t rush back.

Thanks for your reply. After looking at the menu, I’m not sure we would get our moneys worth from using the DDP.

Thank you. Don’t want to ‘waste’ my credits on a meal that’s not worth it.

I don’t think it’s necessarily the best use of 2 credits anyway. I would rather go to The Yachtsman or Narcoossee’s.

It's comfortably my favourite restaurant in Disney Springs and one that we return to every trip.

It's not a good value on the dining plan though as there are some great menu options for not much more than QS prices.

Controversial opinion maybe but I think it's a great restaurant because it's not geared towards being good dining plan value. It certainly hasn't suffered from a fall in quality and OOP value that a lot of Disney owned operations have suffered from.

We loved the Boathouse when we visited, but that is going back to 2016. However, it is a "bad" use of credits, in my opinion. We got 2 small boiled potatoes on the plate with our steak. We had to pay for any extra veggies etc.

Family have always raved about the Boathouse and the ambience is great, however our meal back in 2018 was very poor (the food didn't taste great, a steak wasn't cooked correctly twice, long waits).

Love the atmosphere in Boathouse, great fun.
In our view Disney is fabulous at creating atmosphere and experience, with food coming second to that. Our best meals in terms of taste rarely come from a Disney restaurant. BUT...
Restaurants in Disney are fabulous, each one immersing you into a different experience often with entertainment thrown in or in such an amazing environment you feel like you are somewhere completely different.
Thinking of the restaurants in this way and we always have a lovely time...
