DD looking in the bright side...

My youngest daughter suffers from depression, OCD and GAD. Life can be tough for her. On Saturday, we came back from shopping (having got some additional supplies) and she said “We’re lucky Mum. Things are better for us now, can you imagine what it would be like if this had happened when we were young and you didn’t have much money? Do you remember when you used to do a shopping list and put the prices next to things so you could add it up and make sure you could afford it all? Today, you just went a bought what we needed and we could afford it.” I was a lone parent and she’s right, times were very hard. We are much better situated now. To hear her talking with a positive slant almost brought me to tears. She’s getting better.

Thank you for this, we should all look at how lucky we are more often.

Bought a slight tear to my eye as I remember when I had to do this. More importantly though, I remember when my mum did even though she worked 3 jobs a day and I wasn’t particularly grateful at the time. Not until I was much older, did I realise just how much of a sacrifice she made. Well done to your daughter 😊

My partner’s parents were very poor when he was growing up but thankfully they’re better off now. His mum always talks about how he called her “the best mum in the world” because she let him have his favourite food for dinner almost every night when he was little. Cheap Walls sausages from the corner shop, all she could afford. He still loves them!
