Port orleans and disney's yacht club

hi, can anyone give advice on port orleans french quarter and disneys yacht club?
these are the 2 hotels im looking at staying in for 5 nights then on to a villa

We stayed at the yacht in Oct 19, to be honest it was awful for the money we paid . I wouldnt stay there again .

We stayed at YC last August for 2 weeks (2ad 2ch) in a water view room (free upgrade on arrival)

Absolutely loved it, great room, great location

Ive seen a lot of bad reviews of the YC but have to say we absolutely loved it and are planning to book it again for next year if this damned virus does one!

Assuming they are (which I doubt) they are not comparable.

Yacht Club is deluxe, bigger rooms and amenities and the main pool is a mini water park. You have the Boardwalk entertainment district on your doorstep and can walk to two theme parks. Many restaurants within a close walk.

Port Orleans FQ is nice for a Moderate and you have the boat to Disney Springs. It’s buses otherwise.

I’m so very sorry about that. We loved our stay here but it was a good few years ago.

They aren’t directly comparable, one is moderate, one is deluxe and the price difference would be significant.

We did five nights in YC last February (2019) and it was wonderful. We also got upgraded into a water view room and it was a fabulous room, I loved sitting out on my balcony every morning watching the sun rise. It is in a very good location and the bus service was good. To be honest, I don’t think I could fault it, I wrote a review that you can access if you click on the number 7 by hotel reviews in my avatar.

I think it is probably the best Disney hotel we have been to, although I think the Contemporary would be my first choice if I could stay anywhere, but that would be due to location.

I have only visited POFQ. I think it would be my preferred moderate as it is not as sprawled out as others. It looked ok and I did enjoy the food court where I stopped for lunch.

These are our favourite Moderate and Deluxe. Location is what you pay for, being able to walk to 2 parks from the YC. I will happily return to both and it comes down to what I can afford at the time, not got anything negative to say about either.

To give you an idea on your side by side comparison, a random 5 nights next May:
POFQ- £1215
YC - £2650 !
So over twice the price, even with Free Dining that's a lot of food for £1400!

If you're looking at price, then the YC is always going to be significantly more expensive than PO with a standard booking. However, you could look at renting DVC points which would make it significantly cheaper. You won't get free dining, but for a 5 night stay I wouldn't be too bothered about it personally and just pay for food as needed. Looking at 5 random nights in May (Mon - Sat) you'd be looking at $1600 for a studio at the Beach Club. For the same 5 nights booking with Disney, you'd be looking at £2640, although that is water view room, so standard view would be cheaper, but nowhere near as cheap as renting points.
