Cancelling July stay
I am pretty much decided that we will cancel our July stay this week.
My flights are air miles so no worries with them, I’m just checking does anyone know if stays this far in advance qualify under the ‘special exemption’ rules in that the points go back into original use year? I’d borrowed some points from my 2020 UY Thanks

Sorry I don't know the answer but would be interested to know as we are August and we are wondering about cancelling

Same here but will lose deposit but I will try to get it back on insurance. We have decided not to go because the way things are going in USA with Trump 😡 I cannot see it being safe by then and my wife is 70 at the beginning of August. To me it is not worth the risk. I am waiting to see what happens with our BA flights hoping to get a refund but if not will lose the 2000 pounds. Our lives are more important!

Just off the phone from member services.
Any borrowed points for stays that far ahead would remain in their borrowed UY. Hope this helps someone else decide. I’m going to sit tight for now

You have been given incorrect information. This is what their own email said yesterday:
When a reservation involving Borrowed Points is cancelled, the Borrowed Points will be returned to the Use Year they were borrowed from. This applies to all reservations regardless of arrival date. Please allow up to 15 business days for this process to be completed.

Yes but my question is not regarding policy but how far ahead the reservation has to be for that policy to be in place. Today they told me it’s only for the current closed dates.
