Canadian Visa

Hi all
We are visiting Vancouver prior to our cruise to Alaska in May. I believe we need a tourist visa. I cannot find out how much this will cost, does anyone have any idea? Also best way to apply?
Thanks x

We’ve just got back from Canada and didn’t need a tourist visa, unless you’re referring to the ETA which I believe you need if you’re arriving by air into Canada. We arrived by train from Seattle so didn’t need one. I think they’re only a few dollars - definitely cheaper than a ESTA.

It’s an ETA, the Canadian version of an ESTA. You apply here - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...eta/apply.html

When we went to Canada and Alaska last year we needed both an ETA and an ESTA. it was surprising that some co passengers on the trip didn’t realise and had to get them approved at the airport. Luckily they got them but had to take a later flight.

I cant remembeR exactly how the canadian ETA costs but it's less than an ESTA and lasts longer. Do it on line, comes back almost immediately.

Canadian ETA costs $7 Canadian which is about £4.50. They last 5 years or until your passport expires.

You have to pay for each person separately unlike the US ESTa where you can do a group.

Thank you everyone that’s great info. I’ll get on to the site and apply, I’m sure I’m a little early but at least it’s something off the list. Our ESTAs are still valid
Thanks again xx

I just did my eTA's- all came through straight away for the family, apart from mine - which said file was being reviewed(!) Fortunately it came through half an hour later- not sure why I got singled out.
