We had a lovely big field behind our house and about 18 months ago houses were built there and a % were affordable housing. As it turns out some of those were built directly behind our house.

It has not been a problem at all. It’s annoying they built on the field but has made no difference whether they were affordable housing or not.

If you love the house go for it 👍

The garden looks a decent size so it wouldn't necessarily worry me

Surely if it’s at the stage of plans it should have come up on search, I wouldn’t be concerned if anything it will make your property more secure.

Exactly we’ve not had it highlighted by the solicitors which obviously isn’t good!

I like certainty and definitives. Sadly it wouldn't be for me. Not so much the word 'affordable' but the overall impact.
Flats - is there tons of parking
Being overlooked - is that boxed off?
New build values v existing builds values. What difference?

The parking wouldn’t necessarily affect us as it’s a completely different estate. As for being overlooked only time would tell.

Mmm. My concern would be cheaper houses may drive down the estate you are looking at.

I do accept though things change. We bought in 1986 in a Cul de Sac that was predominantly occupied by Jewish families and is very near the Synagogue.
However the whole dynamic of the area has changed and most of the Jewish residents have moved out so there is a different feel to the locality which some don't like.
Saying that there were no open areas to be built on and certainly no affordable housing within a mile at least.

I think if you have doubts now they'll only increase when they start building.
I think I'd look elsewhere.

It’s a shame as I love the house and know I can make it my home. Looking at loads of houses and viewings and I kept comparing it back to that one. We want somewhere that is more bottom heavy for living space whereas most places are top heavy. It doesn’t help that both me and my husband are really really indecisive 🙈 we’re both librans which says it’s all!
