Me and DH have been talking about this for weeks! We've noticed loads of men wearing shorts this winter - many with a big jacket, socks and trainers!

My Son doesn't even own what I call decent trouser albeit he has a suit.

He spends the entire year in shorts no matter what the weather or the temperature.
Strange boy.

So wet trouser legs in the freezing cold is worse than wet bare legs in the freezing cold?

By that logic, they should be wearing just a thin vest on their top half. Because surely wet arms and body would be better than wet clothes on the top half? And yet they don't.

Also, there is such a thing as waterproof trousers. Would those not be better than shorts if they didn't want to get their legs wet?

BTW, it's not just posties that seem to do this. I've seen blokes walking their dog and, whilst their top half is correctly dressed for winter in multiple layers, waterproof coat, and a hat, their bottom half is dressed for summer in shorts and flipflops!

My OH wears shorts all year round, he says his legs never feel cold. If it's cold he has his big coat on with shorts.

I'm a lady postie, (started in August at the age of 46 after a career change of working behind a desk since I was 18), and I wore my shorts until early December, I have worn them for the odd sunny day this year but have mainly worn my long trousers, with waterproofs all last week as it's been so wet! There are a few men in our office that wear shorts all year round, but I'm a bit soft for that yet!

Whilst not a postman I've worked on the ramp at Heathrow for 20 odd years now; two of our staff had a bet just after we started to see who would wear shorts the longest. The bet was for a Mars bar and is still going to this day, 20 years and no winner. It got so competitive they have even cut off their waterproof trousers below the knee just in case the other accuses them of wearing trousers.
We’ve had temps down to -13 at times and they were still in shorts.
