Every few years we add four nights at Universal but tend to keep at least 12 at Disney. I like to start on the Dark Side as Disney is my favourite part. That said the Universal deluxe hotels are, in my opinion, superior to the Disney ones.

We are planning a split stay with the first 4 nights at Royal Pacific then 10 at the Yacht club. I wasn’t sure which way round to do it - universal or Disney first

We usually do 4/5 nights at Universal, on change over day we do Discovery Cove and then check into our Disney Hotel later on that day for 9/10 nights and visit one of the parks that evening. I have to to do Disney last 😀

Hi Mike
Sorry sorry I’ve just seen this. For us universal is a cheaper nightly rate than Disney, by about £200/£300. So it means that we get the perks of Disney on that first day but spent the night at Universal instead. Don’t get me wrong, it is a very early start but worth it!

We did 5 nights Universal and 9 nights at Disney but the other way around to your plan, so started at Universal. If we ever get back there again then I would do it in the order you are suggesting and possibly a more even split. We visited SeaWorld & Busch Gardens whilst at Universal as you could get the free shuttle buses from Citywalk. Would definitely recommend a split stay.

I always book DIY
recent events and cancellations, as well as TA going bust, and all, are (as far as I'm concerned) a clear sign that it's always best to go direct than through middle men or third parties. as long as you get no penalty amendments or cancellation. for Universal going direct DIY room only means 1 night deposit, fully refundable up to one week (when no special virus terms are in place) and you can amend your booking (room type, rate, dates) online for disney booking DIY on the US site (if you have a VPN) allows penalty free online amendments and cancellation, and is also a one night's deposit Booking through the UK site will tie you to their T&Cs and £50 fees. Last year we had one night stay at universal in the middle of our holiday. Next year we are 14nights Disney (well Lake Beuna Vista) then 2 nights universal, then moving to clear water for 5 nights. Booked as a package via Virgin Holidays.
