Our booking with VH says that we could select outbound seats on 3rd July but it's greyed out and the booking itself says seat selection from 17th July. Tried contacting VH customer services and they said the 3rd July was a site error and that i need to wait until 18th July to select them.

Bit of a farce.

We booked our seats for return at the same time as booking reward tickets at 5.10am on day 331. So they so release seats earlier.

Try contact Virgin Atlantic, mine was the same on Virgin Holidays but this morning I used the text service to contact them and they where able to give me my booking number

Yeah, I had paid for and booked my seats within 10 minutes of sending the first message

They clearly have an issue sharing information between the VA and VH systems

Just noticed your countdown you guys flying from Glasgow too?

btw i noticed last week that the flight is being put back to 12.40 from looking at the VA site, still haven't been told that by VH though

Got the reference from VA, finally able to have a look

We gave a Virgin a call and they confirmed that some bubble seats were available but they were shown as taken online for some reason. We booked row 80 for our outbound flight. Thanks for the advice everyone!
